The movie "Wizard of Oz"was released nationwide on August 25, 1939. Although Kansans everywhere-both native and adopted-grow weary of the jokes, this bird has brought joy to hundreds of kids and their families at Hilltop Child Development Center on the KU campus. The bird, named "Lions and Tigers and Hawks, Oh My!" combines the movie characters and was part of the 2003 Jayhawks on Parade art collaboration between KU, the Alumni Association, the Lawrence Convention and Visitors Bureau and Downtown Lawrence, Inc. #kualumni #aviewfromku #explorelks #exploreku
