KU’s 102nd Homecoming celebration will take place Sept. 21-27 of this year, and we thought it would be fun to share photos and stories from past Homecomings to help get alumni, students and fans excited. So, we’re participating in the internet theme Throwback Thursday, a popular trend on social media sites like Twitter and Instagram where users post old pictures of themselves.
Homecoming 2010’s theme was “Rock Chalk Roadtrip.” During Homecoming week, student groups on campus participated in events like Chalk ‘n’ Rock, where they created chalk designs depicting the Homecoming theme on an assigned square on Wescoe Beach.
Students from the KU School of Engineering chalked this creation to show off their Homecoming. This year’s Chalk ‘n’ Rock competition will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23. Stop by Wescoe Beach to see the artistic abilities of KU students, or check out the Homecoming website for photos after the event!
Check back next week for another look at KU’s rich tradition of Homecoming! We’d love to see your Homecoming pictures and hear your stories. Submit them to us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or tag your pictures with #kuhomecoming on Twitter or Instagram.
