Vice President of Business Development
The Assistant Director of Business Development is responsible for assisting the VP with achieving the revenue goals through the management of a corporate partner, marketing/advertising program, including the consultative sales and activation process; managing the fulfillment and acknowledgement process; managing advertising/marketing traffic and production process; managing corporate partner activation plans; and regular partner communications.
Maintains a lead management system for identifying, evaluating, and managing business prospects and current business partners.
Manages and maintains system for sponsorship contracts, advertising insertion orders and invoicing.
Supports the VP in the consultative sales process of all organization assets (magazine, website, mobile app, social media, email, events, and programs), including preparing power point presentations and participating in client meetings to help demonstrate ROI for current and prospective clients.
Work collaboratively with internal peers to evaluate emerging opportunities, new assets, and activation elements.
Manages the day-to-day process of fulfilling and tracking corporate partner activation commitments, including working with all departments to implement agreed upon activation components.
Manages the traffic/production schedules; collection of marketing and advertising materials.
- Works with digital team to analyze and compile data to share with sponsors and advertisers.
Assist VP in coordinating with Jayhawk Community Partners on alumni integration with campus-wide partnership platforms. This involves new platform development, execution against alumni assets in campus-wide partnerships and participation in working sessions.
Manages the marketing of the License Plate program.
Manages the fulfillment of affinity/royalty-based programs, including, but not limited to credit card, insurance, class rings, diploma frames.
Maintains Business Development section on kualumni.org to ensure all sponsorship and advertising information is current.
Prepares sponsor activation summaries for corporate partners.
Supports and/or manages elements of in-person and virtual fundraising events, including but not limited to sponsor activation, live and silent auctions. This includes working with alumni network boards and volunteers.
Serves on the internal Marketing Team.
Co-leads the internal Business Development Working Team with VP.
Provides administrative support for Business Development team.
Assists with developing and managing annual budget for areas of responsibility.
Handles confidential and non-routine information.
Attends various Alumni Association and University events and programs as directed.
Performs other duties as required.
College degree (preferably in business or marketing) and a minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience is preferred.
Prior experience with a university or other non-profit membership organization is preferred.
Demonstrated project management skills, including working with a tool such as Trello.
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate and work effectively with team members from all departments, as well as externally with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.
Strong project management skills and continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials. Must be able to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands.
Position requires willingness to travel, and to work nights and weekends as required.
Valid driver’s license is required.
