Logan Peck, a U.S. Navy aviator with more than 2,400 flight hours and more than 500 carrier-arrested landings, in November will assume command of the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, better known to air show fans worldwide as the Blue Angels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peck, e\u201908, who earned a mechanical engineering degree from the KU School of Engineering, currently commands Strike Fighter Squadron 211, nicknamed the \u201cFighting Checkmates,\u201d an F-18 Super Hornet squadron based at Naval Air Station Oceana, in Virginia. His previous assignments included deployment aboard the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in support of Operation Freedom\u2019s Sentinel in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"478\" src=\"https:\/\/kualumni.org\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/Logan-Peck-Blue-Angels.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1493\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kualumni.org\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/Logan-Peck-Blue-Angels.jpg 500w, https:\/\/kualumni.org\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/Logan-Peck-Blue-Angels-300x287.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Cmdr. Logan Peck at the April 14 press conference in Pensacola, Florida, during which he was introduced as the Blue Angels\u2019 next skipper.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an incredible honor to take on this role and represent the men and women of this team,\u201d Peck, a San Diego native, said at the April 14 press conference at Naval Air Station Pensacola, in Florida, during which he was announced as the Blue Angels\u2019 commanding officer for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. \u201cEvery day I\u2019m focused on leading in a way that reflects that responsibility.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now leading his current squadron through the hectic conclusion of a pre-deployment training cycle, Peck in September will report to the Blue Angels\u2019 headquarters in Pensacola, Florida, to begin initial training with the revered flight demonstration team. The change of command ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 8 at Pensacola\u2019s National Naval Aviation Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"714\" src=\"https:\/\/kualumni.org\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/Blue-Angels-commander.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1491\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kualumni.org\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/Blue-Angels-commander.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/kualumni.org\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/Blue-Angels-commander-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/kualumni.org\/stories\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/Blue-Angels-commander-768x548.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>The Blue Angels perform during the Cocoa Beach Air Show in Cocoa Beach, Florida, on April 11.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As commanding officer, Peck, flying the No. 1 F-18, will lead a crisp squadron of about 140 personnel and serve as demonstration flight leader. The Blue Angels are slated to perform 64 shows in 32 locations during the 2027 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis year\u2019s selection process reflected the high level of talent and professionalism within our ranks,\u201d said the Blue Angels\u2019 current commanding officer, Capt. Adam Bryan. \u201cCmdr. Peck embodies those qualities, and I am confident he will lead the team with pride and professionalism in the seasons ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Look for more about Cmdr.
