Jayhawks For Higher Education

Thank your legislators for investing in higher education
Last week Chancellor Doug Girod shared the happy news that KU has welcomed its largest freshman class in history: 5,259 new Jayhawks.

Dear Jayhawks for Higher Education:

Last week Chancellor Doug Girod shared the happy news that KU has welcomed its largest freshman class in history: 5,259 new Jayhawks. This fall’s freshman enrollment jumped 18% over last year.

In addition, KU’s overall enrollment grew 6.2% to 29,355, the largest total since 2010.

I encourage you to read Chancellor Girod’s entire message for complete details.

KU’s success results from the hard work of the entire University community, including our alumni advocates. Thank you for your continued volunteer efforts, especially in communicating with the Kansas Legislature about the importance of investing in higher education.

The Legislature restored essential base-budget funding that enabled KU to hold tuition flat for four straight years. In addition, legislators increased need-based scholarships for young Kansans.

As he reported the enrollment increase, Chancellor Girod thanked legislators for their vital investments. I encourage you to reach out to your own local lawmakers to offer your gratitude as well.

We will be in touch soon regarding KU’s 2024 legislative priorities as we prepare for the next session, but for now, let’s revel in KU’s success and share our gratitude with all who helped make it possible.

Rock Chalk!
