Previously, alumni and friends could choose to support KU Alumni through membership dues or standalone donations. Over time, this created two communities of changemakers with distinct experiences but shared goals. It’s time our approach to community building and recognition evolved to better connect with and recognize the impact of all our supporters.

For this reason, effective July 1, 2025, we’ll begin phasing out the current membership program and will recognize all financial contributions supporting KU Alumni as charitable gifts. Donors will be part of Jayhawk Faithful – KU’s loyal donor community that thanks supporters across the University!

NextGen Jayhawks offers curated guidance, meaningful outreach and personalized campus visit experiences to future generations of students.

The Student Alumni Network (SAN) links students to experiences and resources that enhance their success and sets the stage for a lifelong relationship with KU.

KU Alumni engages students along every step of their KU journey. From first campus visits to crossing the stage at graduation, you’re not just helping them get here: You’re helping them feel at home.

With over 400,000 Jayhawk alumni around the world, there’s bound to be KU graduates near you.

Our Networks & Groups total 119 networks uniting over 32,000 alumni. Combining all networking events, socials and watch parties its over 1,000 events each year!

Gifts in support of KU Alumni are received and receipted by KU Endowment who processes all donations to the University and its affiliates.

Why is KU Alumni phasing out the membership program?

We are incredibly grateful to our members whose support has fueled KU Alumni for decades, ensuring vital resources and opportunities for alumni and students and strengthening our University.

Between membership dues and standalone donations, we have had two communities of changemakers with distinct experiences but shared goals. We are changing our approach to community building and recognition to better connect with and celebrate the impact of all supporters. For this reason, starting July 1, 2025, we’ll begin phasing out the current membership program. We will recognize all financial contributions supporting KU Alumni as charitable gifts. Donors will be part of Jayhawk Faithful – KU’s loyal donor community that thanks supporters across the University!

Donations of all sizes make an impact on our work to build a stronger KU. The benefits and access our members have long enjoyed will now be available to everyone who gives in support of KU Alumni. Financial contributions will support the same mission, programs and opportunities membership dues always have.

How does this affect current KU Alumni memberships?

KU Alumni is honoring the commitments we have with our members. All current members are receiving details about their membership via mail and/or email. For specific questions about your membership, contact us at kualumni@kualumni.org.

What happens to auto-renewing membership payments?

Auto-renewing payments for memberships will be canceled. To become an auto-renewing donor to KU Alumni, select to make your gift an annual one when you make a donation through this page.

Can I still purchase a KU Alumni membership?

Effective July 1, 2025, we’ll begin phasing out the current membership program and memberships will no longer be available for purchase. We will recognize all future financial contributions supporting KU Alumni as charitable gifts, which will continue to support the same resources and initiatives as membership dues. Donors will be part of Jayhawk Faithful – KU’s loyal donor community that thanks supporters across the University!

Where is my membership card?

As we begin to phase out our membership program, we will discontinue use of membership cards. KU Alumni discontinued physical cards in the last few years. Digital membership cards will soon be removed from the app.

For benefits that may require verification of member or donor status, we will communicate additional details to our members and donors to ensure they can enjoy their benefits to the fullest.

What will happen to my member benefits?

Current members will continue to have access to the unique benefits and opportunities they’re used to until their membership ends, including:

Complimentary print editions of the KU Alumni magazine and annual calendar

Discounts at the KU Bookstore and other retail partners

Exclusive access to content, events and items

To retain access to these benefits after your membership ends, simply make a donation in support of KU Alumni before your membership expires. Donations of all sizes make an impact, so there is no minimum gift required to access these great benefits!

Will I continue to receive the KU Alumni magazine and other member-exclusive communications?

Current members will continue to have access to the unique benefits and opportunities they’re used to until their membership ends, including print editions of the KU Alumni magazine and annual calendar and supporter-exclusive newsletters.

Is Presidents Club affected by KU Alumni’s membership program phasing out?

No, Presidents Club is not affected. Presidents Club is a recognition program for donors and is separate from KU Alumni’s membership program.

What is Jayhawk Faithful?

Jayhawk Faithful is KU Endowment’s recognition program that celebrates and stewards all donors who support the University of Kansas (including KU Alumni!) or The University of Kansas Health System — no matter the size of the gift.

KU Alumni offers networks and clubs throughout the state, across the country and around the world. These groups get together to watch games, enjoy KU camaraderie, recruit the best incoming students to KU and work to strengthen the University.

Jayhawks for Higher Education

Jayhawks for Higher Education members communicate the importance of the University and higher education to the Kansas Legislature. Alumni advocacy is a longstanding tradition of KU Alumni as an independent nonprofit organization. Informed advocates help strengthen the University.

Kansas Alumni Magazine

Kansas Alumni magazine shares stories of the University of Kansas. The magazine supports the University’s mission of teaching, research and public service by informing and educating alumni and by strengthening their connection to KU, reminding them that they remain part of the Jayhawk family, no matter where they live or how long ago they left the Hill.
