Connect with Camila on KU Mentoring+.

Camila Ordóñez Vargas is a client strategist at PMG Digital Agency. Originally from Barranquilla, Colombia, she graduated from KU with bachelor’s degrees in economics and political science in 2021 and now lives in New York City, New York.

What do you do at your job? And how did you end up in your current career?

As client strategist, I design and support Banana Republic’s U.S., Canada, and international marketing strategy and paid media planning, including SEM, programmatic display, and paid social, while maintaining current and penetrating new market segments. I lead weekly brand strategy consultations, facilitating client communications on current and upcoming marketing plans.

I execute monthly analysis into what’s working, what’s not, and how both can be improved. Contextualizing myself with the fashion marketing realm, together with the seasonal approaches and changing performance indicators, has allowed me to excel as a client strategist.

Who is a mentor for you, and how did they help you?

Michele Kahane, director of my program, has been a very big mentor for me, as she has helped me believe that my impact venture is worth exploring, among other things.

What advice do you have for current college students or young alumni?

Dream, persevere, and follow what moves you.

What is your favorite KU memory?

Making friends that last a lifetime!

Need a mentor? Want to serve as a mentor? KU Mentoring+ is open to students, alumni, faculty and staff, and friends of the University of Kansas. Professionals who are looking for opportunities to connect with KU and provide assistance to Jayhawks are also welcome. Learn more about KU Mentoring+.
