“Hawks & Highways” returns with University of Kansas events in communities statewide
After postponing all in-person events last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will resume “Hawks & Highways”.

After postponing all in-person events last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Kansas Alumni Association, Kansas Athletics and the Office of Public Affairs will resume “Hawks & Highways” gatherings this summer in communities throughout Kansas, part of a multi-year effort guided by Chancellor Doug Girod to expand and strengthen outreach across the state. The series will include eight events in July and August.

University guests include Chancellor Girod, Director of Athletics Travis Goff, head football coach Lance Leipold, Alumni Association President Heath Peterson and Dave Cook, vice chancellor for public affairs and economic development.

“These events are a great way to strengthen Jayhawk relationships—and thank our loyal alumni and friends, who so often travel from their homes to our campuses to support KU.”

“We’re incredibly excited to get back on the road and connect with KU alumni, friends and fans in their hometowns,” Peterson said. “These events are a great way to strengthen Jayhawk relationships—and thank our loyal alumni and friends, who so often travel from their homes to our campuses to support KU.”

“Jayhawks across the state are outstanding ambassadors for KU as leaders in their businesses, professions and communities,” Cook said, “and we’re eager to reunite with many of them in person to talk about how KU can continue to serve Kansans and fuel the state’s economy.”
