The University of Kansas Alumni Association will host its first-ever virtual fundraising event, Jayhawks Flock Together, Thursday, Nov. 19. The event is presented in partnership with Dimensional Innovations, Helix Architecture + Design and McCownGordon Construction. Proceeds will benefit the Alumni Association’s Jayhawk Career Network and Student Alumni Network, as well as the Campus Cupboard, a food pantry for KU students, faculty, staff and affiliates.

The Alumni Association typically hosts two large fundraising events each year, the Rock Chalk Ball in Kansas City and the Jayhawk Roundup in Wichita. Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Association has reimagined both traditions as a virtual event in which Jayhawks across the globe can participate.

The event begins at 6 p.m. CST Nov. 19 with a pre-party, followed by a live broadcast at 7 p.m., which will be hosted by John Holt, a KU journalism and law alumnus and co-anchor of Kansas City’s FOX 4 News. The program will feature KU Chancellor Douglas Girod and Heath Peterson, Alumni Association president, along with an interactive fundraising segment. The silent auction, which opens online for early-bidding Nov. 12, will close at 10 p.m. Nov. 19.

Proceeds from sponsorships and the silent auction will support the Alumni Association’s Jayhawk Career Network and the Student Alumni Network, and donations from the Fund-the-Future portion of the live program will benefit the Campus Cupboard, which the chancellor selected to highlight the seriousness of food insecurity and its effect on students at KU. Registration for the event is free.

“Jayhawks have come together during these challenging times to connect, unite and support each other,” said Heath Peterson, president of the KU Alumni Association. “We are thrilled for the opportunity to engage our global network of Jayhawks to support vital Association and campus programs, and we are incredibly grateful to our three presenting sponsors, Dimensional Innovations, Helix Architecture + Design and McCownGordon Construction, for their generous support.” For more information and to register for the event, please visit rockcha.lk/jayhawks-flock-virtual.
