KU Young Alumni Network

The KU Young Alumni Network is dedicated to keeping recent graduates and young professionals connected to KU and to each other as they build their careers, put down roots in new cities, and figure out what’s next. We create spaces for young Jayhawks to stay engaged with their alma mater, build community with fellow alumni, and carry the Jayhawk spirit into this next chapter of life.

All Jayhawks are invited to participate in the KU Young Alumni Network and all affinity groups.

Our Mission

Our mission is keeping young Jayhawks connected to the KU community and to one another right after graduation through building community, offering ways to give back, and strengthening a lifelong relationship with the community.

Mike & Joyce Shinn Leaders & Innovators Award

The Mike and Joyce Shinn Leaders and Innovators Award acknowledges the contributions of individuals who have made their mark on the University, their profession or society at large. The award, made possible through donations from KU alumnus Mike Shinn, was initiated in 2006 and brought to fruition through the coordinated efforts of the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the KU Alumni Association, the Spencer Research Library and the KU Endowment Association.

Emerging Leaders Award

In 2021, the KU Black Alumni Network began a new tradition of honoring young alumni. The Emerging Leaders Award is aimed at highlighting recent graduates who had a measurable impact on the University of Kansas and are poised to make an impact in their profession and their community.

A Young Alumni Network watch party

Watch Parties

Wherever young alumni land after graduation, there’s a Jayhawk watch party nearby, or a new one waiting to be started. We help young alumni find or build a gameday community in their city, keeping that KU spirit alive no matter the zip code.

Communications

We keep young alumni in the loop on what’s happening at KU and within their local networks. From watch party details, volunteer opportunities, and ways to stay involved.

Philanthropy

We connect young alumni with opportunities to give back to KU, to their local communities, and to the next generation of Jayhawks through service projects, mentorship, and campus engagement.

Community

We create recurring opportunities for young alumni to meet each other, network professionally, and build friendships rooted in a shared KU experience whether that’s in Lawrence, Kansas City, or wherever life takes them next.
