The short film “Dear Larry”—“a no-budget PSA competing against the big guns,” says filmmaker Marc Havener—recently won a pair of prestigious national Addy Awards, bringing its total haul to nine. “There’s something about Larryville and all its characters, that when you try and explain its magic, you can’t,” says Havener, c’96. Featured in Kansas Alumni magazine’s online and print editions, “Dear Larry” lives on as the most enduring local creative product of pandemic 2020.
