The 7th annual Kyou Networking Week brought together Jayhawks at 19 events across the country to connect over how their time at KU shaped their career, and how a Jayhawk connection could mean the next step.
From August 4-9, alumni volunteers organized and hosted career-focused events such as happy hours and coffee meetups, inviting Jayhawks to connect over career conversations.
Kelly Johnson, a volunteer in Portland, helped organize a Jayhawks & Java meetup that created new connections.
“It was inspiring to see a great group of Jayhawks—both new to the city and longtime residents—come together to connect over coffee and have meaningful conversations, says Johnson, g’23. “It really showed how strong and welcoming our alumni community is in Portland.”
Kyou Networking Week is one of many programs of the Jayhawk Career Network, which gives students and alumni access to career resources, jobs, events, programming and connections at every stage of their career.
Network volunteer Joci Hansen, e’15, shared how the Denver network brings alumni together.
“We had a great showing of Denver Jayhawks for Kyou Networking Happy Hour,” says Hansen. “Everyone chatted with someone new, made a new connection and appeared to enjoy themselves the whole time!”
One of KU Alumni’s newest networks – in Tallahassee, provided Jayhawks in the area a unique opportunity to come together. Kim Davidson, u’12 helped create the network and led the event.
“The Tallahassee Jayhawks met at a wonderful local coffee shop for delicious drinks and fantastic conversation,” said Davidson. “Our group included alumni spanning several decades and former faculty members.”
