Kyou Networking Week creates career connections
The 6th annual Kyou Networking Week brought hundreds of alumni together to make connections with Jayhawks in their network.

The 6th annual Kyou Networking Week brought together Jayhawks in 17 cities to connect over how their time at KU shaped their career, and how a Jayhawk connection could mean the next step.

From Oct. 7-12, alumni volunteers organized and hosted 17 career-focused events, inviting Jayhawks in-person and virtually to connect over career conversations.

Emma Greenwood, a volunteer in Kansas City, helped organize a networking happy hour that created new connections.

“We had around 20 Jayhawks come together, and what stood out to me was how everyone engaged with one another instead of sticking to their own groups,” says Greenwood, j’21. “Jayhawks originating from across the country and globe attended, sharing diverse experiences from their time at KU while uniting in our shared love and pride from being Jayhawks; there was an eagerness to stay connected.”

Kyou Networking Week is one of many programs of the Jayhawk Career Network, which gives students and alumni access to career resources, jobs, events, programming and connections at every stage of their career.

Network volunteer Cassie Enriquez, d’18, g’20, shared how the Oklahoma City network brings alumni together.

“Our happy hour attendees enjoyed each other’s company by swapping stories about KU basketball and football and the excitement involving the Allen Fieldhouse renovations!” says Enriquez. “As a group, we decided to work as a team to organize additional happy hours periodically and outings to Oklahoma City Thunder games when Jayhawks are in town!”
