KU students, industry professionals connect at blockchain conference
A spring semester gift to the University of Kansas is already paying dividends.
In 2019 Silicon Valley financial technology company Ripple awarded a $2 million grant to KU as part of the University Blockchain Research Initiative. Ripple is led by Brad Garlinghouse, c’94, who serves as CEO of the San Francisco-based cryptocurrency and digital-payment processing firm.
One of the programs benefiting from the grant is the KU Blockchain Institute, a student-led organization that focuses on advancing KU’s standing in the fast- developing field of blockchain.

Meet the KU Coding Boot Camp alumni who are paving the way for other women in technology
Three Kansas City Women in Technology show those from all backgrounds can jump into programming and advance their career with the KU Coding Boot Camp.
Despite the remarkable strides women have made in today’s workplace, some industries remain stubbornly male-dominated; STEM is one such field. Kansas City Women in Technology (KCWIT) is one organization that empowers women in tech to connect through networking events, programs, and more—carving out a community where women in the industry can grow together.
